Movie Review of Lorelei

Lorelei is a film about reality. Life is not always pretty and the choices we make affects others even when we do not want to believe they do. Sometimes we never stop to think that what we do will change the lives of others.

Wayland, played by Pablo Schreiber, does a job for this biker group to get money so he and his girlfriend can escape their small town to Los Angeles. A job that changes their life for 15 years.

When Wayland is released from prison he runs into his ex, Dolores played by Jena Malone. Who kept living life with other men and having three kids from three different men, while still wanting out of that small town.

When Dolores sees Wayland again, it reminds her of the dream they had had of escaping. The damage staying in the town has down to her is seen by the way she interacts with her children and the lack of parenting.

Wayland wanted to be with the only woman that he love, when he was locked up when he was a teenager (15 years earlier), he is very reluctant to become a father to three children. But ends up being a better parent than Dolores is.

A band named Shinedown has a song titled "Second Chance" (https://youtu.be/WbsDPbr8qoM) and gave me a second opinion of their music video where a young mom takes off leaving her child with her parents to change her dream to be a dancer.

The same thing Dolores does to just be happier in Los Angeles. We do not know if life gets better for them, or if her parenting skills go up or not. But they end with a smile that says it does.
